Drive – Kavinsky, College, Electric Youth and Cliff Martinez

I loved the soundtrack of this hero without a name movie. I especially liked the opening track Night Call from French electro DJ Kavinsky, produced by himself and Guy-Manuel from Daft Punk.

The song A Real Hero by College & Electric Youth is the theme song of Drive. According to an interview with College and Electric Youth, inspiration for the song came from Captain Sully, an American airline pilot who saved many lives by crash landing a plane in the Hudson river in 2009.

Most of the soundtrack is composed by Cliff Martinez, a film score composer and ex-drummer of – among others – Captain Beefheart and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. His songs are instrumental, ambient and less distinctive on record. Still worth checking out, for example Bride of Deluxe or Kick Your Teeth. His songs are not fully available online, but you can listen below for a quick taste.

In addition, the unofficial but awesome movie poster by James White. Gotta love these colors.
